Lincoln Wheat Cents are the most commonly collected of all U.S. coins. Designed by Victor D. Brenner, this series debuted in 1909. The engraver included his initials, V.D.B. on the reverse of the coin at 6 o'clock. This caused much outcry as engraver recognition was not common at that time. The initials were removed from the dies within a few weeks and the series continued on without his initials until 1918 when his initials were replaced on the dies at Lincoln's shoulder on the obverse. This change in initials has created the rare 1909-S VDB Wheat Cent as one of the rarest cents made, with less than 500,000 minted. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that you will find one in these rolls (we checked).
Many people collect coins because they were introduced to coin collecting by an older relative or a friend. These rolls are a great way for you to introduce collecting to a young mind or just add to your collection. We do our best to leave in earlier dates and better quality coins. We simply get too many in to sell individually.
