The Walking Liberty Half Dollar, commonly referred to as "walkers" was design by Adolph A. Weinman, whose monogram appears under the tips of the wing feathers on the reverse. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar is the only U.S. coin that features the U.S. flag, though obviously not with 50 stars. The Walking Liberty Half dollar was struck from 1916 to 1947. This design was so popular that it was re-used by the U.S. Mint as the design for the American Silver Eagle bullion coin that started in 1986. It is made of 90% silver and is both a great collectable coin and a great way to hold silver.
