The Morgan Dollar is one of the most highly collected coins ever produced by the U.S. Mint.  The silver dollar series is named after the mint engraver who designed the dollar, George T. Morgan. Coinage of the silver dollar was authorized by the Bland-Allison Act in 1878. Known by its detractors as the Grand Bland Plan, congress authorized the purchase and coinage of millions of silver dollars each year in .900 silver at 26.73 grams. In 1878 alone, more than 24 million Morgan Dollars were minted.

As rare coin dealers, this series, whether raw, or certified by PCGS or NGC is always one of the most collected coin series we sell. Morgan Dollar certified MS-63 to MS-65 are readily available and reasonably priced for most date and mint marks. Carson City Morgan Dollars, with the "CC" on the reverse are especially popular with rare coin collectors as Old West cowboy money. The Panic of 1892 saw Morgan silver dollar production drop, and as a result, coins from 1892 through 1895 can be quite rare.
