The Liberty Seated Dime is the longest running dime type coin series. The series spans 55 years and 4 mints, Philadelphia, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Carson City. For Liberty Seated Dime type collectors, there are five recognized varieties from changes in drapery, stars, and arrows. With the exception of a few date and mintmark combinations, the Liberty Seated Dime is available to rare coin collectors in circulated and uncirculated condition. Beginning in 1858, proof Liberty Seated Dimes were minted for collectors. Proof coin mintages run from about 500 to 1,000 coins per year and were only available from the Philadelphia mint.
